Austin’s Story
Born and raised in Richmond, Austin May is the youngest of three and the son of a teacher and an entrepreneur. After graduating from Marian Central, he received his Bachelor’s from the College of William & Mary, studying Psychology and Chinese, and earned a Master's of Public Policy from Georgetown University, graduating magna cum laude.
Austin has worked for Lauren Underwood, Pamela Althoff, Jack Franks, and in Democratic political organizing across the country.
Dedicated to public service and American ideals, Austin has lived and worked around the world. In the Peace Corps, he taught high school English, Civics, & Computer Skills in southern Ethiopia. Under the State Department, he worked at a refugee camp for Operation Allies Welcome.
With 8 years so far of military service in the US Army, he deployed to Kuwait in support of the Global War on Terror and defeating ISIS, earning his highest decoration: the Meritorious Service Medal.
In his free time, he has started a small business, serves on the board of two education development NGOs, and runs rather quite a lot.
